I can't even write this review without daydreaming of the peppercorn encrusted filet. Everything I have tried has been well prepared with a modest, clean and thoughtful presentation. During the holidays, they have cute decorations that, along with the fireplace, give the restaurant a warm cozy feeling. The staff has always been wonderful. My first time at the restaurant, it was either one of the owners or managers, Christina, was so nice, friendly and joyful. She checked on us even during our meal and answered some of our questions about Argentinian food and life. Pues ellas tambien pueden decirlos iguales o mas sucios. Responde a este comentario. It's always nice to feel connected to the food and the people/environment. As everyone mentions, the view of the KC skyline and restaurant presentation leave a lasting impression. If you are looking for a gem in KC, this is one of them. Really great.. wonderful service, delicious food. My boyfriend had the halibut and I had the peppercorn steak.. The flan and berry desserts were both terrific. Come for the view, stay for the food. I'd heard of this epic view of the KC skyline and the quality Argentinean cuisine here for years. It was all around pretty good, but I can't help but wonder if their normal menu isn't a bit better overall? I had the Sandwich de Costilla (Grilled Prime Rib Sandwich served on Argentine Loaf with Stilton Bleu Cheese, Caramelized Onions & Chipotle Aioli with French Fries). Tasty, albeit a tad forgettable. The dessert was awesome (Churros al Chocolate with Caramel Stuffed Churros served with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, drizzled with Dulce de Leche & Chocolate Ganache) but I was too full to do much damage to it. Unfortunately on the January day we were there, freezing rain and clouds obstructed the famous skyline view. This would be a spot I would definitely revisit on a green, summer evening. Our waiter Sean was as great as the food. Our party of 4 started by sharing empanadas, then. Fantastic service provided by Fred. Disnt have enough patience to take picture ... Yummy.. Started with empenadas and a brazilian hamburger... Service was excellent and food was delicious. Dinner was a disappointment. All we wanted was to try all the empanadas variants available, since they are our favorite food. We called ahead of time to ask how many empanadas came in an order; we were told . We didn't check the bag until we got home.. Only to realize there was only a single empanada of each flavor in there! We would have happily paid for more, but were told that the order would have three per flavor. So we didn't order more. The poor service, ignorance of the person who took the call, and lack of food really disappointed us. The food we did taste, was quite good. I must admit that I was skeptical about this pick of coworkers due to the complex menu descriptions, but I'll never second guess this decision. The wine list is outstanding and the appetizers are fresh and traditional Argentina with a more familiar Mediterranean flavor profile including sundried tomatoes, marinated vegetables, capers and citrus. I had the caprese salad, salmon and creme br. The only problem is that I was over- stuffed when I left! I don't think you can go wrong with this place and the city views are icing on the cake. Of all my 1. 0+ years in KC people have asked me over and over, ? Today was finally that day. The ambience is great. Different than traditional steak houses in that it was very open and nicely lit with natural light. Accenting the dining area were boldly colored paintings which took you further into Argentina. The waiter was very friendly and truly concerned about our well being throughout the meal which was very nice and made us feel at home. The food.. Brie with apricot spread. Started with a glass of Argentinian Malbec (Filus) which was one of the best I have tasted and went well with the steak.. Succulent and full of flavor after a sip of the Filus. The eight ounce was a perfect size for this evening. Churros with ice cream and chocolate dipping sauce.. Not too rich but just perfect. Warm and complementing the ice cream. We would definitely come back to Piropos and I recommend the same you my friend. Cheers fellow palatteers. Even though I was underwhelmed by the Restaurant Week lunch options, I decided to go anyway because I wanted to have lunch with some friends. Boy, I am SO happy that I went! The options seemed a little dull, but I was absolutely blown away. Everything was incredibly delicious! The prime rib sandwich seemed like the best bet and it absolutely was! The prime rib was incredible!! The sandwich was warm, gooey, and the meat was perfectly cooked. It was paired with fries which I surprisingly enjoyed as well, but they really aren't worth mentioning. I was tempted to choose the churros because CHURROS.. And I absolutely know why now. And with tons of drizzled cr. If I was alone, I would have licked the plate clean. To be fair, I find the menu itself rather uninspired. This lunch was incredible and I will absolutely be back for dinner sometime soon! A finer meal I have not had in a long time. Great views and excellent cocktails started the night off and a delicious meal with great service ended it. You get exactly what you pay for. Major difference in experience this time around. We stopped by for lunch. Our server was very good, no complaints there. Definitely not filling despite paying more for added meat and eating an appetizer beforehand. We were still able to enjoy the dining experience up until the check came. A gentleman, who was either the host or the manager, stopped by the table to take our payment. We chose to also use a $2. The certificate wasn't expired and the fine print said it could not be used for bar menu items, which we didn't order. The manager refused to honor the full amount of the certificate. He said it was meant to be used for dinner only even though there was nothing on it saying so. He stood there awkwardly and told us he wasn't going to apply the entire amount to our check and without waiting for a response from us (we were sitting there kind of taken a back at this odd news) he rushed off to bring us our receipt. So instead of giving us $2. It seemed so stingy of them and ended our experience on a very awkward note, not to mention we should've had a remaining $1. It was incredibly poor customer service. I figure times must be pretty hard financially for them to act that disgracefully. Food was great, price is high on some things but that comes with the quality and setting. The servers were very informing and on top of everything. Only thing I have a gripe about is the small table we had to sit at and how close we were to another table, but that's not a huge issue. Would go again for sure. Food was amazing the lobster bisque. The halibut with the lobster risotto most delicate and wonderful meal ever. Piropos is one of my favorite restaurant in Kansas City, I'm surprised that I have not written a review for this wonderful place. The food is awesome and the service is always great. Definitely a place for special occasions. The most recent visit I have was last Sunday, when we decided to check out their Kansas City Restaurant Week menu. We were greeted promptly upon arrival, and we were being seated right away. The KCRW menu shows great varieties of selection, and we were all able to find what we like on the menu. I usually ordered the lamb dish they have on the dinner menu, but decided to try the KCRW menu instead. For the first course, I had the soup (crab bisque), which was a little bit too salty for my taste. Our soups unfortunately came out cold, not even the room temperature, but our server was very helpful, apologized, brought them back and heated them up for us. As for main entree, I had the seafood platter, which consists of grilled shrimp, tilapia and scallop. The seafood were well cooked and properly seasoned. We all did enjoy our meal a lot. The last course was dessert, and we had the chocolate churros and banana cake, they were delicious and were the perfect ending of the meal. I would highly recommend this place for those who appreciate great food, great service and great ambiance. Request for a table by the window facing Kansas City Downtown for the gorgeous view too! Piropos is one of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City because the Argentinean cuisine is delish and the service is always kind and attentive and the ambiance is romantic and beautiful. At Piropos, a bread basket and amazing chimichurri sauce will start your meal. It's easy to keep eating the bread with chimichurri, but save room for a tasty appetizer like the empanadas or crab cakes. I recommend sharing a bottle of Malbec and ordering one of their many tasty fish dishes or a Gaucho- styled steak. Piropos has been or go- to place for celebrating milestones in or family for a number of years. We were always impressed by the service and food quality. This time was a glaring exception. The service was mediocre at best. Our waitress was slow in responding to our needs. It took a long time to get our cocktails, and the server said the bartender was . The restaurant was not full by any means, being an early Thursday evening. When our entrees arrived, one of the steaks was way undercooked and it took time to get someone's attention to send it back for additional cooking. I went to the men's bathroom to find, after using the facility, that there were no paper towels in the dispenser. I returned to our table to dry my hands on my napkin. I notified the gentleman who appeared to be the manager, and he seemed unconcerned. We may have to rethink whether to return to Piropos for our next celebration. Came here for my first time last night for the BF's birthday. There is a $2. 5 corkage fee if you bring your own bottle of wine but if you choose to .
